Sounds similar to the difference between atheists and agnostics.

Maybe,
I just hate both of those terms, I think it's such a complex concepts and when people even talk about themselves only few know most of the nuances

That's true, but I'm OK with at least some self-identifying. I actually discussed this concept at a party last night, where several people identified themselves as anti-religion, secular and others. But we all seemed to have thought enough about our position to come to it conscientiously.

Oh, I have a pretty clear idea how I want to self-identify regarding "faith in god" topic — I am a pantheist.
to elaborate:
I think god is a virtual entity, a meme created by people often meaning different things to different folks, religion is a type of human organization, pretty effective btw, but at the current stage of society evolution is to often harmful (yet the lack of communal culture from non believers is troublesome too), and as to what is god — the laws of physics is, and we just do not know who created that, probably due to limited mental capacity.

I believe in pretty much all the same stuff, but I can call myself something different. This is why I like self-identification so much.

sure, just a compact term sometimes is useful and it works way better for me than atheists and agnostics

[identity profile] elarbee.livejournal.com 2017-12-24 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Life can not be that compact! Alas, I wonder how much more advanced and successful we'd be as a species if we just quit arguing over the whole god thing.

It looks like this "god thing" was and maybe is evolutionary advantageous.
We just need to learn how to use the phenomena more efficently

Sapiens and Homo Deus (https://thedimka.livejournal.com/495824.html) both talk a lot about it.
